WIWW

It's time again for What I Wore Wednesday!!!
Wednesday is quickly becoming one of my favorite days of the week because I can check out the ever-growing number of blogs that are participating in WIWW.
(If you have a second, check out this post I came across from back in June. She has an interesting topic of discussion about mens' expectations of women's' clothing.)
Ooh! And my someday-SIL, Amanda, is going to participate too. Fun!
I love to see people's own unique style. It gives me inspiration and teaches me more about mine.
I'm also so glad several of you enjoyed this on my blog and gave me positive feedback about it because it's so fun for me and I'm proud to say I didn't miss a single day this week!
So here you go!
The good, the bad and the jammies. (That last one's for you, Amanda.)
Thursday
Work
yellow cardigan - Old Navy
white tank - Kohl's
white pants - Express (really OLD - trying to decide if I still like them)
Close-up of the floral foof:
Friday
Work
favorite gray cardigan - Target
white top - New York & Co. (for my b-day this year)
fave gray pants - Gap
necklace - NY & Co.

Friday night

Out to see a movie (Eat, Pray, Love) with co-workers (great movie by the way)
traded the gray pants for jeans (Gap) and added my lovely white purse (Etsy)

Hold the phone! Is that a pair of cute shoes on my feet? Why, yes. I often forget about these pretties. The brand is called Hot Kiss and they're from Kohl's. They have a small heel and look great with jeans, in my opinion. Too bad my toes aren't helping them out any. I could stand a repainting job.
Saturday morning
Race day! Women's Distance Festival 5K
tank and shorts - both from Athleta
purple running watch - Timex
(and try not to gag - I wore this same outfit on Monday and Wednesday night for my runs before washing it)

Saturday
Library & grocery store with kids, then around the house cooking and doing laundry
tank - Boden (at least Summer '08 or earlier?)
shorts - Kohl's
necklace - no idea, but I'm going to guess NY&Co. cause it's old and I used to get all my jewelry there

Sunday morning
Making & eating pancakes with kids, reading library books
tank - NY & Co. (OLD)
pj pants - Victoria's Secret PINK

Sunday
Babysitting Mya & Stella, around the house, and dinner with in laws
blue & white striped tank - Old Navy
gray tank - Old Navy
gray fabric flower - homemade, Etsy - I LOVE Etsy
white... what do you call these?... pedal pushers?... I don't think they're Bermudas or capris - anyway they're from Kohl's

Monday
Work
tunic top - Old Navy
black tank - Kohl's
black flower pin - NY&Co.?
black leggings - Kohl's
super pale skin - genetics and life - Boo
I'm on the fence about my ability to wear leggings. I don't have the super slender legs that my mom and sis do that look good in leggings. But they're so comfy and versatile! Opinions? I'm not fishing for compliments here. I want honesty.

Oh, and here are my shoes with this outfit. They're from Target. Of course, sandals would look better, but that's not an option for work.
Tuesday
Work
white poplin shirt - NY&Co.
gray pinstripe pants - Gap
necklace - NY&Co.

Evenings this week
Lounging
vintage-looking Ohio State tee - Kohl's
black fold-over yoga capris - Victoria's Secret

Wednesday
Work
one of my all-time favorite tops - Boden (Spring/Summer '07)
favorite khakis - Gap
stone tank - Old Navy
necklace - NY&Co.?
Will wanted to be included on this day. He saw me standing on the toilet lid (I'm sure that looks peculiar to a 3 year old... or anyone) and asked if he could stand there too. :)

Technically, this is probably considered a tank. And remember, it's important to layer in my office. So I added a chestnut colored cardi from Express (OLD) and decided my turquoise purse would look nice with it too.
So that was my week!
And this is what I've learned:
1) My favorite color to wear and buy lately is gray. (Wow. Depressing, huh? But I love it!) It's so versatile and I pair it with black or brown tones. My other current favorite clothing colors are turquoise and yellow.
2) I've also been focusing on a lot more mix 'n match with my outfits - purchasing much more simple - non-print - items that can be paired with a variety of things to change the look. That is such a help with laundry saving and with transitioning from day into night if necessary. (Not that I have a night life at all...) Plus it keeps things interesting for completely new outfits using old pieces.
3) I haven't really changed anything about the way I dress since doing this. But I will admit I never used to change my purse or really even consider a necklace or other jewelry before I started photographing myself. It's nice to realize and start using all the things that are taking up space in my closet instead of forgetting about them out of laziness.
So, now I have a few questions for you! - (if you care to answer) - Just cause I'm curious.
1) Do you have staples that you wear all the time?
2) Do you covet styles that you don't think you can pull off?
For me, it's skinny jeans. I'm just not tall enough.
3) Do you have favorite clothing colors?
4) Are you creative? Do you take risks? Or do you usually play it safe?
I'm still really hoping some of you jump on the bandwagon here.
It's fun and it's inspirational. If nothing else, your husbands will probably appreciate the extra effort you put into getting ready! :)
Sarah, what about you? And Melissa, I know you wear cute clothes other than work scrubs! I see them all the time on your blog! :) Casey, you've been requested in a comment already. And Amy, it's too bad we didn't start this earlier. We could have gotten a WIWW pregnancy edition! Can't wait to see your new mom style if you decide to share.
See you next Wednesday!!

Ash.....as I told Amanda and Amy I will CONSIDER doing this after I go back to work next week because my summer attire is pathetic. And now to answer your questions....
1. I LOVE comfortable cute jeans and lately the brand that fits my stick legs the best is H2 from Kohls. I also love t-shirts in different colors that can be layered. I think it looks cute and it is super comfortable. I also love ribbed layering tank tops (i.e. wife beaters....although I HATE that term). And flip flops are my fav shoes. I also love fun jewelry that makes boring clothes more fun. Basically I'm a comfortable dresser.
2. I'm so on the fence with skinny jeans.....normally I hate them. I don't really think anybody looks good in them and the people who normally wear them should not be wearing them. However, on random occasions I think they look ok. I covet awesome really high heels but they just aren't practical and so I normally shy away.
3. My favorite clothing colors are yellow, blue and black. I do love all colors though but lately yellow is my addiction because it is so happy! I got some super cute yellow earrings from Kohls that I'm loving.
4. I'm not creative and I normally play it safe. I really hate being boring but I also know that I am a pretty judgmental person (I'm not proud of this) and I hate the thought of someone seeing me and thinking "What was she thinking?????" So boring seems safe to me. However, this does leave me feeling jealous of other people's clothes often. What to do, what to do?

Just for my favorite blogging friends, I'm going to do a special "last week of pregnancy WIWW!" I'm starting to day, and as long as I can remember to take a picture every day I will post next Wednesday. Brace yourselves for my most boring post yet!

And to answer your questions:
1) At this point I am wearing the same exact thing ALL THE TIME - colored ribbed tank top and something comfy on the bottom, such as Soffee shorts, a skirt or gaucho pants. I honestly can't even remember my pre-pregnancy wardrobe at this point, but I'm looking forward to re-introducing myself very soon!
2) I really am jealous of most people's clothes. I feel as though I have a hard time pulling off anything trendy. My sister's sense of style is my ultimate aspiration - she's all J.Crew-y and perfect and it makes me sick! But, really I just can't pry myself away from comfortable clothes. I'm a total t-shirt and jeans kind of girl.
3) I have a lot of blue and a lot of black in my wardrobe, but I feel like it's not my fault. I try to buy a variety of colors when I go shopping, but I find that many of the styles I gravitate toward always come in the same few colors. So my efforts are usually short-lived.
4) I am not creative at all. I've said before that if I was allowed to wear khakis and a Lake t-shirt to school every day without people laughing at me, I would. I take NO risks in my wardrobe because, like Casey, I'm so afraid of being judged (silly, I know).

Wow I'm late in responding but better late than never!
First of all, yes, you can pull off the leggings! They look adorable on you!!! And yes, you do have super slender legs, too! lol

Anyhow...
1. Yes, I've always got the same khaki capris or jean shorts on in the summer and the same jeans in the colder weather... it's not really that I like them so much haha it's that I'm so picky about finding something that fits me right that I just stick with what I already have!
2. I'm not a risk taker, there's lots I'd like to try but I worry about looking like a fool lol. My sister can pull off anything so I'm always keeping an eye on her style to see what items I can steal of hers haha!
3. Ohhh yes I always go for the neutrals (brown, beige, gold tones)... I am trying to force myself not to though!
4. I think I can be creative but I don't follow through with it! I'm so practical about my clothing and accessories... I won't buy an item that will only go with one outfit. I pretty much wear the same jewelry every day and have very little costume jewelry, though I would like to. My mom and sister always tease me because even if we're somewhere like at the art fair I will always go for the jewelry that is neutral and will match lots of stuff instead of the cool funky stuff.
I need to take some pointers from you girls and my sister!
