Well, technically we haven't shifted into the next season yet...
but we're in the process of preparing for it.
For the first time in his childhood life, Will had a little clothing try-on session with us. Until now, we just knew he'd have grown out of the previous seasons clothing with just a few exceptions. But thank goodness that changes as they get older! Most all of Will's pants from last season still fit and I think that's in large part because he doesn't have a bulky diaper underneath anymore, which allows for a smidge more length.
I had high hopes of making a special trip out - just me and my boy - to do a little "school shopping" for a few extra long sleeve shirts and maybe a new pair of jeans. I thought we could have lunch and make a nice little "date" out of it. Well, last Sunday we headed out to Fallen Timbers at 10 a.m.... Did you catch that? 10 a.m. That should tell you just how often I get OUT to shop anymore. I just assumed they'd be open by then. Well I talked to my mom on the way who informed me that, in fact, most shops aren't open till noon on Sundays. Boo.
So we turned back around. And Will had only been talking about toy shopping anyway, so I doubt he was all that disappointed in our cancelled plans. In the end, I wasn't willing to forfeit nap time for some shopping. And I also decided that the $5 it would cost me to ship clothing from Children's Place was cheaper than the cost of gas out to Fallen Timbers.
So while he slept, I filled an online basket with some super cute items - I LOVE the rocker/biker/punk look that CP has going this fall! - and called it a day. I sort of think he looks like he should be brothers with Kingston Rossdale with these styles. :) Haha! Not everything in these pictures is from CP (duh!) but I just layed out some of my fall favorites for your viewing pleasure.
A few of these shirts and both pair of Chuck Taylors are hand-me-downs from our buddy Griffin. Nice! And all this new stuff had to be de-tagged and washed up before organizing into his closet. Sometimes this can be a big, overwhelming chore to shift out the old/small and shift in the new, but most of the time I love doing this job.
I LOVE the gold and black Rock & Roll tee and plaid, button-up hoodie (above). And I also love this short-sleeve motorcycle henley under the black, button-up shirt. I'll roll the sleeves and pair it with jeans or these shorts and his new, black, Nike Cortez's.
Oops! Do you see the mistake CP made? They sent me the white long-sleeve, moto henley in 6-9 mos! So now I have to exchange. But I'll just do that on my lunch break some day since I'm closer to the mall.
The littlest lady of the house has quite the fall/winter wardrobe awaiting her as well!
I was so glad to clear out the drawer I've been stocking with 12-18 month fall stuff and 18-24 month winter stuff and get it into her closet. A lot of it was purchased last cold weather season. But I've already got a ton of stuff for next summer waiting in the wings after this summer's sales too, so I needed more room in the dresser drawer.

The floral top with the turquoise and brown stripe sleeves is her one and only Boden item. I can't afford their stuff on a regular basis, but this was just too cute. She has red mary janes and a matching Bow2Cute hair clip to go with. The green cardi with white polka dots is L.L.Bean and I thought it'd be cute with a white tee and jeans. I'm super psyched about the couple of knit, newsboy hats she has for the fall. And the teal, plaid shirt at the bottom is from CP just with Will's recent order. Everything else in these picture is Gap or Old Navy... on sale.

I was just thinking about this transition! :) I'm not ready to tackle the project yet! But I think we still have quite a bit of time before the fall weather kicks in.
Loving the boden stuff!
Oh and wondering how you go about choosing your kids clothes.. do you choose in pieces? or do you find a top or pants you like and make sure you have a matching top/pant before you buy? Sometime I find too many things i love and buy and don't end up finding a match!
