This Week...

After practicing with the "-at" word family on the Easter egg for a few days, I tried a new reading activity with Sophie using six of her now familiar words as sight words.  On two separate pieces of paper I scattered each of the words all around the page (three different words per page) and gave her three different colored dot markers each time.  She stamped all of the words that spelled "cat" in blue, "sat" in a different color of her choice and "bat" in yet another color.  She loved this and it was more great practice.

Will spent just about every afternoon climbing the door frame - his new favorite skill.  LOL
Both kids wanted to work on some dot stamper pages on another day and worked hard to create about four or five masterpieces each.

We had swim lessons tonight at my mom and dad's.  The previous location for our swim lessons was no longer allowing open swim to the public and our private instructor agreed to come out to my parent's pool to finish up our remaining three lessons.  The lessons also got moved to Thursday, which was fine.  So tonight, we finished up the lesson and stayed awhile after to swim with papa.  Craig was doing our usual grocery shopping trip and my mom and brother are in Honduras on a mission trip for the whole week.  So it was nice to spend some extra time with papa.  During the lesson, we found a frog floating in the pool filter and I had to scoop him out with my bare hand!  I put him in the grass and we thought he was dead, but slowly he seemed to regroup and start to move a little bit.  The kids took turns holding him and Sophie pretended to kiss her Prince Charming.  :)

Miscellaneous March

Will's Kindergarten teacher has started a class blog for the second half of the school year.  The kids log on each week to answer a new question by leaving comments.  The teacher usually responds back to them and it's an exercise in navigating social media.  Still hard to believe that this will be the norm for our children's generation!
As with pretty much all children of this generation, Will picks this stuff up so quickly!  He's going to be ahead of me in technical knowledge in no time.

No, we don't normally allow standing on chairs at the dinner table or anywhere, but sometimes she ends up partially standing to get out of her chair.  Well, this night she just started dancing her little heart out and we couldn't stop laughing and taking pictures.  :)

A late March surprise snow fall.  Not much, but still pretty!

Cuddling and tickling with daddy at the end of a lazy weekend lunch.  She loves to be tickled by daddy.

Love these two.
Randomly, Sophie broke out this combo of hero/fish pose and asked me to take her picture.  Love my little yogini!  They remember the names of so many of these yoga poses.  :)
I caught Sophie in a quiet moment, snuggled in her bed with a book.

Meanwhile, Craig and Will caught a BIG 10 basketball game.
Aaaand, one more from this weekend...
...yet, no words to describe:

Homestead Randoms

A bunch of random photos from our meanderings around the house.  Nothing terribly exciting.  But the reality of our down time... minus the cooking and laundry and cleaning and, and, and...

New Years morning pancakes.  Don't laugh... I don't think oatmeal pancake batter was meant to be piped through a sandwich bag.  Hindsight...
A little game playin'.
Brain Quest is super fun for the Kindergarten and up set!  Soph's a little young yet.
This pose Will's got going on cracks me up.  He looks like a little man!  And just like his daddy.

While we played Brain Quest at the table, Sophie was busy with her kitchen and serving us multiple cups of tea with cookies.
Concentrating on one of Will's encyclopedias with the magic pen that reads her the facts.

Independent pottier.  Never thought we'd see the day.  And I know this is TMI, but she's so quick with her poos now!  It used to take her FOREVER to relax and just go.

Done???  Yep!

A typical evening...
Homework first.

 Dinner then bath.

Last minute play time.
Teeth brushing.
And, um, checking to make sure you can't see any sugar on them???

Followed by books, prayers & kisses goodnight.

Another frequent evening occurence:
Step 1) walk in door.
Step 2) beeline for dress up drawer and put on tutu.
All her dress up stuff gets shoved into one big drawer for her easy access and this poor tutu has been so well worn and loved that it's all scrunched and tangled.  Note the discarded sparkly ballet slipper and tiara.
Reading Charlie and Lola to little sister.
Pop-up books rock.
And that's about it!  It's been pretty quiet around here.  No complaints from us!
