Father's Day

Father's Day this year included breakfast in bed after a little sleeping in for daddy.
(P.S. this picture was taken in 0.4 seconds and then I quickly grabbed the tray back because Muscles McGee there was shaking with the effort of keeping it stable.  Haha!)

The kids presented Craig with a card and a certificate for Craig and our friend Mike to go golfing at Fallen Timbers golf course, which Craig has never been to.  Eighteen holes plus cart and lunch!

Both kids decided to jump on the bed shortly after so Craig decided to bring breakfast down to the table instead.
Craig spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon working on his truck outside (by his own choice) and then in the afternoon, we went to Craig's parents house for our annual picnic/cookout.  I took a replica of last year's Father's Day picture again.  Might try this annually until little sister is too big or Will's head comes up too high.  :)

There was lots of trampoline jumping this day...

And I took a TON of pictures of the kids when they decided to actually give me some genuine smiles!!!  Almost unheard of most of the time!

Trampoline Duck Duck Goose.
I'm a sucker for watermelon eating pictures.

And Aunt Kelly brought over two fresh strawberry pies for dessert after dinner.  Soooo good.

It wasn't until late that I finally got over to see my dad after getting the kids home and to bed.  :(
But dad's and my favorite bonding time is our regular lunch dates at the Beirut restaurant right down from my work.  He meets me for lunch about once a month or so and we have our one-on-one time and catch-up convo over a split order of kafta sandwich, fatoosh and hummus.
And at prayer time before bed this night, I told the kids I was going to see my daddy after tucking them in because I hadn't gotten to see him all day and I have a father to celebrate too.  I told them how blessed I am to have a father that loves me and my family very much.  And that I wanted to go give him a big hug and kiss and tell him I love him too.

Happy Fathers Day to all the wonderful men in my life.and my kids' lives.  You are so very loved and appreciated!

Father's Day

On Father's Day morning, we celebrated with the Wittman family at the baptism of Reese Elizabeth.  My cousin Brittany and her husband Troy welcomed Reese on Leap Day this year and she is an adorable baby!  Reminds me a lot of Sophie as an infant with her personality.  I got to snuggle and hold her the evening that we took mom out for dinner and pedi's the previous week because Brittany, Reese and my Aunt Shirley came with us.  It really took me back as Reese settled right down to sleep when I held her in the signature way Sophie used to settle down.  :)  For her baptism, Reese wore the dress that Sophie and several other ladies in our family have worn for three generations.
Speaking of Soph, she just adores my cousin Brianne (Brittany's sister) who is still our favorite babysitter whenever she is available in her busy schedule.  :)
After the church service, we joined everyone at the Buhro residence for a lunch picnic in Uncle Jim's huge barn.  The food was delicious and the kids loved checking out Uncle Jim's combine and semi truck.  Craig enjoyed playing some b-ball with my brothers and cousin.
After the picnic, we took the kids home for a nap and then headed over to Craig's parents house as we always do for Father's Day.  I love the t-shirt that I got for Sophie at the last minute for four bucks from Old Navy.  :)

Happy Father's Day, babe!
There were a few new toys at Grandma & Papa Riedeman's house this day...
including this blow-up, rolling ball.  :)  I took the honor of demonstrating how to use it for the kids... you know, just to make sure it was safe and all.  ;)

We had our usual dinner picnic outside on the shaded lawn and the kids played in the sprinkler, sand box and other toys outside.

Sophie and Celia took a paddle boat ride with Papa on the pond.

Will was feeling a little impatient for his turn.

Sophie kept rolling the big ball over to the sprinkler when it was her turn so that she'd get "rained on".  Haha!

She also stripped down to pee outside and "rinse off" in the sprinkler.  ;)

Some Father's Day Highlights

Swinging in the a.m. while daddy slept in.

{Sophie is definitely ready for a regular swing this year. Craig's going to make her one.}

Fishing in Grandma & Papa's pond with Aunt Kelly.
During a paddle boat ride along the back side of the pond where our winter sledding hill ascends (we sled down the back side of it), Will asked Papa if he could have some hot chocolate with marshmallows. :) Haha! It's June, buddy! Apparently he was reminiscing on cold weather memories.

Sooooo...

Introducing... "Hillbilly Summer Sledding"! LOL

And some exciting new developments!

Will and I practiced his 2-wheeler riding skills and he balanced and rode by himself across the driveway (with me running close by) several times! Yay, Will!

He kept looking back to see when I would let go and I had to keep reminding him to keep his head forward. :)

A taste of raw asparagus from Grandma's garden...

...and despite this reaction, she continued chomping (and giving me a bite here and there) until it was gone (which took her like half an hour - haha). There is definitely something about the novelty of it coming right from the garden and eating it outside. I'm hoping our garden changes her mind about tomatoes this summer.

Sophie and I also spent a lot of time riding in the paddle boat this day too. She loved it!
