The Secret Cure for an Ear Infection!

Vanilla extract!
But none of that imitation crap.  ;)
Or so says Dr. Sophie, medicine woman.
On Sunday morning after our day at the lake, Will was getting his usual ear drops (twice daily for seven days) and laying on the couch for five minutes as instructed.  Sophie was playing with her kitchen stuff, which includes a bunch of empty spice containers of mine and this empty bottle of vanilla.  She would soothe Will with:  "Shhh... it's gonna' be okay.  Just lay still and relax.  Hold still... I'm gonna' put some medicine in your ear."  [Insert pretend dumping of extract into infected ear.]  "Okay!  Now you're all better!"
Sheesh!  Why didn't Dr. Carmen work that fast?  ;-)
We needed this day to chill and recoup from our day in the sun so we made zero plans and just enjoyed our day at home.  Craig and the kids built a fort in the living room.
We tended the garden and pulled a few ready foods.

We spotted a cool bug on the front porch and Will remained impressively calm when it leaped onto his arm.  It's body looked just like a leaf!  Will's eyes went wide when it first landed on him and I just said "It's okay!  It's not gonna' hurt you.  Just stay still and check it out."  But then I proceeded to scream and freak out when it jumped from him to me.  LOL  :-)

Sophie's got this "working out" thing figured out!  Just hitch a ride on the back of someone doing push ups and it's almost like you did them too!

But then she wanted to be honest with herself and give them an actual try.  She did pretty well!

Love lazy Sundays.
