St. Patrick's Day!

Well, we weren't quite as festive as last year, but we did try out some new activities and I thought I'd share.
First, here are some books we borrowed from the library. Once again, I have to give a plug to Anne Rockwell's books (top left) - they are all just so educational and easy to read/understand. I've mentioned before that she has them for LOTS of special holidays/topics. Will also loved The Leprechaun Who Lost His Rainbow. Very cute.
We did a couple of basic activity pages that I printed out from MLF.
One was just coloring a rainbow.

The other was dot stamping a rainbow.
Will loves dot stamping anything.
And this was Sophie's first opportunity to use the stampers.

Will did so well on his stamped rainbow until he decided to fill in a little white space around one of the red circles and forgot he was holding the blue stamp. Oops. He was bummed.
I brought out the file folder game from last year and Will did that a couple mornings when he woke up ahead of everyone else and waited for us to get ready. :)
This was so fun! Lucky "Bingo"! Okay, I know I printed these off of Family Fun's website but now I can't find the link. Weird. They have cute winter bingo printables too. Ooh - speaking of Family Fun, did anyone see all the cute "cupcake cake" ideas they had in the last issue? Aren't the owl ones cute? Might be a cute birthday idea for Sophie...
Anyway, back to bingo. Here are the boards I printed. I didn't have any green printer paper or a laminator, so I just glued them to a green construction paper background.
Will and Craig and I played after dinner one evening and it was really fun! Makes me want to take Will to a Bingo hall. :) He is doing so well with double digit number recognition.

Craig was the "lucky" winner. ;)
And finally, I made Sophie another themed sensory tray. Dried lentils, those green coins (from Big Lots last year), two colors and sizes of green pom poms, pencil erasers, various shaped beads and a felt shamrock.
We played a shape finding game. Sophie is not real solid on shape recognition, but she seems to know triangle and occasionally circle and square. So this was fun practice.
We counted pom poms.
And just sifted everything through our fingers.

Will was into counting everything and we even tried a new counting game that I will tell you about soon.
And, besides our corned beef sammies, that was it for our green festivities!
How did you celebrate St. Patty's? Anyone set any leprechaun traps?

Thank goodness you didn't use those green "jelly" shamrocks this year! LOL!
