Nothin' better than cuddling up before bed with comfy clothes and a pile of books.

Here was our stack:
Top to bottom:
Who Hoo Are You? by Kate Endle
Courage by Bernard Waber
Beach Day by Karen Roosa
Yummiest Love by Lisa McCourt
Sophie particularly liked the Lisa McCourt books. (Wishing I would have borrowed these for Valentines week.) If you can believe it, this was the first time I'd ever read I Love You, Stinky Face and I definitely want to own it. We all loved it. Very sweet.
We checked out a handful of books by Rosemary Wells (originator? of the Max and Ruby characters)... these that are pictured, plus Carry Me! Will really liked them all, but particularly the ABC and Bunny Mail books.
If Will had to pick a favorite (it would be tough), this would probably be it. He carried it around and read it on his own all week. That's a sure sign of a favorite book.
Will also loved The Snail and the Whale. He's fascinated by whales and this was a cute story about a snail hitching a ride around the world on the whale's tail.
My favorite was definitely Saturdays and Teacakes. The illustrations were just dreamy and I loved the story of the little boy's Saturday ritual with his grandma. I would consider myself a tad old fashioned and I admire and am drawn to books and things that remind me of a world that moved slower and cherished family values. This book just makes me happy. It's on my Amazon wishlist.
Benjamin's Treasure had a very sweet and moral message about the things in life that hold true value. Will and I both enjoyed this one. I also learned that Garth Williams (the author) is the illustrator of the My First Little House books that we love.
This was our board book of choice for Sophie. It's short and sweet and all about animals. A bedtime favorite for her last week, though I read her quite a few of the others as well.
It was hard to return books this week! They were all so good! So we kept Saturdays and Teacakes and I Love You, Stinky Face for another week. But our list of books still to read is ever growing, especially in the past couple months since I've come across some really awesome new blogs written by childrens book fanatics. These have become some of my favorite types of blogs to follow. I write down all the book recommendations I find (via blogs, the Scholastic book order form, and personal recommendations from friends) in a notebook and then make up our weekly library lists from there. I've also gotten a lot more practice lately in branching our from the picture book section of the library. Some of the books we borrow (which are still technically picture books) are shelved in with specific categories of the adult books. So it's fun to learn more of my way around the library.

And here are my highlights of the week:
Bernard Waber writes the Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile books, which I'm not really a fan of. But Courage is a nice book about all the many forms of the word. Will liked hearing examples of courage and how he might be able to do that too.

I would love if you could share the blogs of the children's books! I can't wait until the babies enjoy reading books. They like to touch the books and especially love the "touchy-feely" kind! (and of course like to eat them if they find one!)
