Story Stretchers: Harold and the Purple Crayon

Here's a super simple story stretcher featuring a classic book:
We've read this book in the past and loved it. So we borrowed it again and during nap time on Sunday, I taped down some large pieces of packing paper that came in a box I received in the mail last week. (It would have been a shame just to pitch it!) When they woke, I brought the kids to the living room to read the book again without showing them the paper and at the end, I pulled two purple crayons out of my sweatshirt pocket and handed one to each of them. (P.S. We need more crayons in this house! It was really difficult to find two purples. One of them was shaped like a ladybug from Mya & Stella's birthday party.) Then I showed them to the kitchen and they were so excited! It's the simple things in lift, right? We got to work drawing scenes from the book in sequencing order... or doodling in Sophie's case.

When Will got bored, I jumped in to quickly freehand the rest as he told me what happened next. "Don't forget the porcupine!" he said. "Pork-a-pine!" Sophie repeated. :)
I sense that you're laughing at my sketches. You know that's not very polite, right? It's not like I was trying very hard...
Seriously. Stop laughing.

I think we'll add some crayons to the list of Easter basket ideas this year!
