An Interview With William Dean Riedeman, Part 4

Wow! It's been so long since I've remembered to do this! Last July, I interviewed Will for Grandma & Papa Riedeman's birthdays. But since then, the whole idea has slipped my mind. So my apologies to all the birthdays that happened in between. :( I would have forgotten again if Casey hadn't reminded me that Wes has been looking forward to this since we did the first one last May. :)

The purpose for the interview is just to time capsule the mind of a child with questions about the people he's closest to. I just come up with a bunch of simple questions and "interview" Will when he's most likely to willingly give thoughtful answers... In this case, while he was sitting on the toilet. LOL :)

1. What do you call your uncle that is married to Aunt Casey? What is his nickname?

Wes... but I'm going to call him Champ.

Okay... but what do you normally call him? Uncle...

2. Uncle Dub's birthday is coming up {tomorrow!}. Do you know how old he's going to be?

50

Actually, buddy, he's going to be 28.

3. What do you think he wants for his birthday?

I think he wants some books for Mya & Stella.

What kind of present should we get him?

I think we should get him a guitar.

4. Do you know what Uncle Dub does at his job?

A teacher!

5. What is your favorite thing to do with Uncle Dub?

Read books with him.

6. What is Uncle Dub's favorite thing to do for fun?

He likes to get Mya & Stella away from my puzzles.

Okay, but I know you like to play with your cars and trucks for fun. What do you think Dub likes to do to have fun?

Take a shower.

7. What is Uncle Dub's favorite sports team?

Hockey

That's not a team. Who's his favorite team?

Buckeyes

What if I told you his favorite team is from Cincinnati? The Cincinnati...

It's actually the Cincinnati Reds but good try. The Comets play for Genoa.

Hmm... {holding his finger to his mouth with scrunched eyebrows and a thoughtful face}... green beans

Wes, from everyone in my family to you: Happy Birthday! I hope you know how much we admire and respect and LOVE YOU! Will is so lucky to have such an awesome Godfather. And, while I know tomorrow won't be the best day for you given the circumstances, I hope this is your best year yet! We love you, Wes!!!
