Fire Safety

The day Will's class had a visit from the Alan Township Fire Department, my mom borrowed our camera (by my suggestion) to photograph the kids. It was a fair trade off. She got to use a faster camera and I uploaded all her pictures to Snapfish (since she hates doing that - haha). In return, I got some pictures of Will for my own keeping. :)
Hmm... not sure what was going on here. Perhaps they were pretending to sleep in their bed before a "fire drill" or maybe they were staying low from the smoke? Will's in the red shirt on the left.
Oooh! How exciting! Real life fire trucks for the kids to walk right up and inspect. The tire is taller than Will!
Cousin Brianne was there to help that day. Will loves her and she loves being with kids. Brianne is going to be a phenomenal mother one day. Here the kids are learning about how paramedics help save people's lives inside an ambulance.
The ironic thing was, this visit from the fire department was on October 7th... one year + one day after Will's real ride in an ambulance last year after his febrile seizure. That anniversary was not lost on my mind. He claims to remember that he's ridden in a real ambulance, but he has no negative memories from it.
Firemen showed the children all of their special gear and equipment that protects them from fires and very high temperatures.

Another cool thing that the kids got to do was spray a real fire hose. The fireman that dressed up in uniform let the kids spray him with the hose. :) They loved it.

They also got to try on a real fireman's helmet.

A group picture.
What a fun day!
Later that night, after we said our nightly prayers, I asked Will if he had any special prayers he wanted to say. I was thinking of Lisa, our babysitter, because it was her birthday, but Will said "yes, for fireman Brian". I'm not sure which one was fireman Brian, but I think it was the one who got sprayed with the hose. I thought that was very sweet of Will, so we said a special prayer for "Fireman Brian" in thanks for a very fun day and to keep him safe every day that he's fighting fires to keep us safe. We also said a special prayer for Lisa that she had a happy birthday and "got really cool presents". :)

So cute Ashley! Funny, because the things that Will is doing in preschool are pretty much the exact same things Carson has been doing! (although he didn't want to get on the fire truck!) PS-I think they are "stop, dropping, covering eyes, and rolling" in that first pic:) I think the covering eyes thing is something new they are teaching the kids because that was what Carson was showing me and I know I never taught him that part....
