Peanuts & Cracker Jacks

Our last stop on Easter Sunday was 5/3 Field in downtown Toledo for a Mud Hens game!

The last time we were here in August 2009, Will was two and Sophie was about four months. So he remembers, but this was essentially Sophie's first baseball game experience.

My cousin Brianne recently took a job doing (I think) event planning with the Mud Hens. So she plans catering events and organizes things for the box seat ticket holders, etc. She's also still fulfilling her internship with the Make-a-Wish Foundation and will graduate this year! Busy, busy girl!
So Brianne suggested that we get the family together for a baseball game in lieu of a formal meal at grandma & grandpa's house. Easier on grandma and a fun change of pace. Most of the family met up for dinner at one of the downtown restaurants before the game, but we barely had enough time to come home and change between functions and we still arrived late to the game. So I brought a snack for the kids (apple slices and peanuts) along with water bottles and we just picked up a pizza on the way home, per Craig's request. ;)

The stands were nearly empty, given the holiday.

This scene was a rarity as you might imagine. We posted adults at either ends of the rows and the kids were up and wandering their row and climbing over seats to sit with Nana & Papa, cousins Brittany or Brianne, or Great Grandma or Grandpa.

Probably my favorite picture from all of Easter: Craig with his Goddaughter, Stella Grace. Love it!!!

The Easter Bunny wandered the stands and passed out plastic eggs with a trinket inside. That was a hit.

Will with his smiley face ring. :) Haha

Both my kids - but especially Sophie - always seem to gravitate toward my cousin Brittany (Brianne's sister). Brittany and her husband Troy were up from Columbus with their one month old daughter, Reese, and Sophie was prepared in advance that the baby was here and no longer in Brittany's belly. She was so excited!

I think Soph was dancing?

And Will was probably telling a joke or a story?

Sophie with Brianne & Brittany. Love them!!! Unfortunately, I didn't capture any pictures of baby Reese... but as soon as I talk Brittany into starting a blog, I'll be sure to link you over to all that cuteness. :-)

Chatting with Great Grandpa Konesky.

Mini stud.

I'm a sucker for backwards hats on boys. ;) So cute.

Quick visit to the gift shop. No purchases, just browsing.

At this point, Sophie's expression (below) pretty much sums up our family: glazed over and exhausted. We left before the game ended and headed home for pizza, baths and bedtime. Holidays should not be allowed on Sundays without also having Monday off. Am I right? Craig and I weren't so lucky, though. Phew!

Happy Easter from our family to yours!
