{Weekend of 9/17-9/18}
On Saturday morning, the kids and I got out to run some errands (library, grocery store, bank) and go watch our friend Jagger's flag football game. It was so cool to see all those kids running around having fun and I do hope our kids enjoy sports when they're bigger. Will and Sophie were playing with Jagger's younger siblings Charlize & Jax on the sidelines as though they hadn't seen them in ages! You'd have thought they were the ones in the game! In reality though, the kids have gone to the same babysitter (along with my twin nieces) nearly every day of their young lives. But I think for kids, there's just something really cool about seeing someone familiar outside of their element... like a teacher at the grocery store or your daycare pals at a weekend event. I love watching them together since I rarely get to see it.
The downfall of the morning was "the pee incident", which I can finally laugh about now. Will was dancing around and starting to grab himself like boys do when they have to go. We were about to leave anyway, but before I even realized what was happening, Will had dropped trou and started peeing right there on the side of the field! I couldn't very well stop him mid-stream at that point so I just tried to pull his shirt down far enough to cover his parts from view. (Meanwhile, Sophie is in my other arm as I lean down over him.) I can only imagine what any noticing parents must have thought of me. Good grief. There was a loooong talk about private parts... and private activities in private places.
So anyway, home we went for lunch and nap. And then in the afternoon, we met up with some more friends for a play date at the park. (Sorry. No pictures at all from Saturday.) These friends are ones we don't see all that often but that Will will go to Kindergarten with next fall. I've mentioned before that very few kids from Will's preschool class (none that are boys) are moving on to our same school district next year. So I've been hoping to plan some outings like this for Will to hang out with some future classmates as well. (The kids' moms are friends of mine.)
On Sunday, Craig finally had a free day that he wasn't committed to one project or another, so we maximized on our family time and the incredibly gorgeous day that we had. In the late morning, after our usual pancake breakfast, we went to the zoo. Not the best picture of Soph, but cute of Will & Craig:
Smooches for Soph (Craig's idea):
This is the first time she hasn't been terrified of the carousel.
Some woman walked over and offered to take our picture before the ride started. She said she had the same camera as us. :)
Giraffes.

Looking for the polar bears.
She was mostly interested in climbing on everything.
Will loves the eagles.
Hippos.

Watching a meerkat play with some shredded newspaper.
Seem him standing tall and alert there on the branch?
Muscles... and then jumping off a rock. Boys.

Nature's Neighborhood - playground. That girl in the green t-shirt is my daughter. When did she get so big???

Peek-a-boo!
Tigers. (Napping in the back.)And in the late afternoon, we decided on a hike at Maumee Bay State Park over the pumpkin patch just yet. It was a beautiful fall day. Will rode his bike, Soph rode in the stoller (her choice) and Brutus joined us!
Love the "I heart Earth" hair clip and Soph has been wearing single pony tails lately!

More smooches for Soph. (Will's idea this time.)

Such a stunt man. ;-)

Haha - Craig left his shadow in our picture. :)

At the end of our trail (the bike path), we ditched the bike and stroller at the car and climbed the big sledding hill to the top. Sophie insisted on doing it herself - wouldn't let me touch her - just had to be "big" like her brother.
