Sweetest Words

This just can't wait for the next Will-isms post. My boy has the power to take my breath away sometimes and tonight I started crying the instant I realized I'd heard him right.

For the past week or so, I've occasionally laid down with Will after bedtime stories and prayers just for a few minutes of cuddle time and to whisper sweet nothings to each other. :) He wraps his arms around my neck and, with his eyes squinted closed like he's "trying" to sleep, he'll tell me he loves me over and over. He is the sweetest boy I've ever known and he holds my heart in his hands.
Well, tonight I went for a run while Craig put him to bed and when I came home, I went in to kiss him goodnight and tuck him in again. He told me he loved me as usual, but as I was walking out of the room he whispered "Mommy, you make my heart feel super happy."
Even as I type those words I'm breaking down in a fit of tears again. I cried immediately after he said it and he looked a bit concerned like he'd said something wrong. I told him that was the sweetest thing I'd ever heard and smiled so he knew I was happy too. He opened his arms to hug me and I squeezed him for a long time and told him I loved him too.
Then I kissed him goodnight and went to tell Craig and broke down in tears again. :)
How? How did I get so lucky? I must have done a lot of things right in my life to be so blessed with these sweet, sweet children. I am a lucky woman.

Waterworks over here from reading this!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THAT BOY!!!!!!!!! But the reason he is so stinkin' sweet is because he is raised by two parents who show him what love is! Way to go, Ash and Craig.

I know exactly what you mean. Will got it from his daddy who made me so happy with his hugs and kisses - long after the other boys gave up showing affection to their mothers. Craig was always there with a hug, and the insight to know when I needed one. You ARE very blessed to have an affectionately loving husband and 2 beautifully loving children.
