Father's Day 2010

After a fun morning at Metcalf and then lunch and naps for the kids, we were off to picnic with my in-laws.

My parents and sister's family had been in Florida for an unexpectedly long time after all the drama with Spirit Airlines being on strike. So plans kept getting changed for Father's Day and, in the end, we didn't really get to celebrate with my dad. But I still made a special stop over to see him before going on to the Riedeman's.

Will loves his Papa.

Happy Father's Day, dad! I love you so much!

Craig's parents have a beautiful pond on their property that doesn't get as much use as I think it once did. Craig used to play hockey on this pond as a kid and I'm sure they did plenty of swimming here years ago. You can see a slight hill on the back side of the pond - that's where we went sledding all those times this past winter. We went down the other side, of course, and it slopes down more than it appears in this picture. Also, behind the hill, at an angle back in those trees, we hope to one day build our live-in-forever home. Here, you can see Sophie checking out some beach toys at the water's edge. This lasted for all of about three minutes. She really wasn't a fan of the beach or water.

So instead, she chilled out on a towel in the shade and was soon joined by 2 1/2 month old Cecilia.

Cousins.

Will and Craig checking out the pond. God, I love those guys. ;)

Cecilia Mae is ready for the sun!

Don't worry... This was only posed. Do you honestly think I would let my one year old have her daddy's sugary poison? Haha.

Soph and her daddy. She's really starting to pull at his heart strings these days. She's constantly smiling at him and her new thing is saying "hi" all the time. So they'll say "hi" back and forth lots of times and she'll just smile away. I can tell Craig is starting to fall hard for his little lady.

We had a similar picnic two years ago outside under the shade of the walnut tree. Let me tell you, it is SO peaceful! Except for having to dote on two busy, little ones, we just chilled and enjoyed the beautiful day. We also played with the kids on the blankets and Will spent a lot of time riding various tricycles and the mini coupe around on the sidewalks.

We even brought along our picnic table and the kids sat there for dinner. Sophie's doing so well sitting like a big girl at the table! (Most of the time.)

Will loves playing with his daddy's old matchbox cars when he comes to Grandma & Papa's house.

I really wanted to take a posed picture of Craig with the kids on Father's Day and I don't know why it didn't happen. But these are more natural anyway. Just down at their level, hanging out.

Happy Father's Day, Craig! We love you!!!
