Woot!
Woot! Another race under Will's belt! This one was totally last minute. I happened to check out
Toledo Roadrunners website yesterday over lunch and saw that they were hosting a "Kids Kilometer" run for three age categories and distances this morning at
Wildwood Metropark. We registered upon arrival and Will ran in the 7 and under group for 1 kilometer (the same distance as the zoo race).

Once again, Will was one of the youngest kids in attendance. The smallest race t-shirt was a tad big... so we changed back into the t-shirt he wore this morning and decided to try to shrink this one later.

Waiting by the start for everyone to get registered and signed in before the race.

And spelling out the sign to me.

On your mark... get set... go!

This race required a little more encouragement (for Will) on my part since it was MUCH smaller than the one at the zoo and MUCH fewer people to cheer the kids on. We ran through a woodsy trail and Will wanted to walk or be held after hearing another 3(-
ish) year old girl complain to be held shortly after the start. I think he runs very well when he has some sort of motivation driving him, and today it was the playground that was in eye-shot of the starting line. And that wasn't enough to keep him going during certain points. :)

Just after crossing the finish line. You can see the finish off to the right. The kids received a numbered stick at the finish that they turned in to be ranked and scored. There were only a few kids behind us at the finish... but he finished! His time was about the same - right about 11 minutes for .6 miles.

Refueling on water and banana at the refreshment station. :)
