My first sign that teeth were approaching was when, out of no where, she threw up on me last week. Is this a universal sign or is it just my kids? It's not like spit up and it's not like a stomach bug - it's just a random, quick vomit, and then they're fine. (Sorry - TMI.) Will was the same way - he threw up before teeth popped through several times. Anyway, on Thursday evening, she seemed a little off and a little extra whiney to me. So I immediately checked her gums and, sure enough, BOTH of her top two teeth were right there, just below the surface and very hard. Thursday was a rough night of sleep for Sophie. She wasn't awake for any long periods, just fussed on and off, here and there, and woke up unusually early. Then Friday, Lisa said she was just miserable all day and had a terrible runny nose. Here's another pic of Friday morning before work.
After a rough day at Lisa's, I brought my baby home and we snuggled and nursed. I gave her a cold teething toy before nursing (like the lactation consultants always suggest) to help numb the gums and avoid any chomping. The side effect of that, though, is VERY cold hands and mouth on my very sensitive areas! She did manage to get her little evening catnap after napping poorly all day so that was good.
She really wanted to be held all evening and I still had dinner to make. So I just wrapped her up in the Moby like old times. It's actually designed very comfortably for children much bigger than Sophie, but ever since she's been mobile, we hardly ever use the wrap around the house any more.

It's funny - she used to live in that wrap as a newborn. Now she is so big! Here's Sophie at about 3 weeks all wrapped up.
And at 7 weeks on a trip to the zoo.
The other thing that's a constant while she teethes is having her tongue out. It was out ALL weekend long. She makes it into a bowl shape and just lets it out - LOL.

So finally on Saturday, the top left tooth broke through and on Sunday, the top right one followed. I'm sure it won't be completely relieved now, but hopefully much less painful. We used Motrin at bedtime on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and she slept much better. I am not looking forward to the incisors that follow - those are the worst!

Thanks for your nice comment!! I love the new & old Moby pictures...it's amazing how fast they grow. Also, Will's monkey jammies in the previous post are so cute!
