Easter 2011

Easter Sunday was a fun, family-filled day.
I was still reeling a bit from the eventful week that preceded it, so I was looking forward to a low-key celebration with our families.

As I mentioned earlier, I really didn't do any special Easter crafts or reading with the kids. But we did make cookies, color eggs and have several egg hunts. Will did some fun things with his classmates at school and our babysitter had some Easter activities/crafts that she did with the kids, such as this cute, marshmallow egg:
Here's an egg that Will painted and cut out at school.

The Easter bunny clearly had fun putting baskets together this year. ;)

On Easter morning, Will woke up a little after 7 and we coaxed him into laying in bed with us until Sophie woke up around 8:15. (She is just a champion sleeper!) Then we snuck downstairs to get her up and changed before peeking into the living room to find colorful eggs EVERYWHERE! We left a basket on the table and the kids put all their found eggs in there.

45 eggs in all. Many were pretty easy to spot. But as the morning went on, we hid them over and over and over for Sophie.

She decided to carry the basket around as she found the eggs.

Surprisingly, they made it through the entire 1st egg hunt before finding/looking for their baskets... which were so easily hid under the blanket on the chair! :) Silly kiddies.

New shades and Leap Frog Numbers Ahoy DVD (she LOOOOVES Letter Factory).

Haha! These glasses remind me of my Grandma Skees. :)

Sophie's main priority was opening EVERY. SINGLE. EGG. The ones that were hidden were empty though - LOL.

Lovin' her new Dora ABC flashcards ($1 at the Dollar Store).

And the Sight Words game was a hit too.

Cutie. Can you tell he loves these jammies? He wears them all the time!

Haha - nice face.

Later that morning, we went to the Munoz residence for brunch with the Riedeman/Powers families. Cecilia is taking some steps on her own now! Yay, Celia!

Oh! The spread was amazing and soooo good! I tried "lox" for the first time with bagels and cream cheese.

My mother-in-law made the most beautiful braided bread loaves with a mixture of sourdough, white and whole wheat.

We also had ham, omelets, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, fruit salad, sweet rolls and pancakes. Wow! What a feast! I just love brunch. Love it.

It's nearing nap time... can you tell? Will went without nap all day. Sophie laid down in the pack 'n play for a couple hours while we were here.

The next few are some of my favorite pictures of the day.
While Sophie slept, we snagged some pictures of/with our almost-four-year-old. Handsome kid, ain't he?!

Love them!

Will got to take a quick ride on Papa's new tractor while he helped cousin Mike with something.

How much longer till he's too big to hold like this? Wait. Don't answer that. I'm just going to pretend the answer is "never". I love that he still loves to be held.

Silly faces.

Next stop: the Konesky residence for Easter with my mom's family.

We had dinner and just hung out and relaxed with family.

My sister's family is always so well coordinated. Aren't they just a sweet looking bunch? Those girls get cuter every time I see them.

Our little family... well, we've taken better pictures in the past. ;) Haha! Neither kid was really interested in taking pictures. Sophie was getting warm so we took her tights off and that looks kinda silly, yet goes well with the dazed expression she's wearing. Will had that sleep-deprived kinda crazy going on. Know what I mean? You'll see further down.

Niiiice.

Haha! This is Mya marching. She has a coordinating up-and-down arm motion to go along with her legs. :)

Will and Uncle Zach sitting on the fake dear in Grandma's backyard.

These are a big hit...
One of the funny highlights of the day this year was Will's interest in taking pictures with our camera. He often asks me to show him whatever picture I just took of him, so that morning I asked if he'd like to take a picture too. He was so excited and ended up taking quite a few pictures over the course of the day. While we were at the Riedeman party, Will wore the camera around his neck for awhile and laughed really loud at the image every time he took a new picture. Some people were caught off guard, but most of them posed silly for him. I think he did pretty well! Here is Will's work:

So later that week, Craig thought to give him one of our old digital cameras that we never use and show him how to operate it. He calls it his camera now and he even took it to school for show and tell. I'll post some of the pictures he took at school in another post. :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend with their loved ones!

OMG! You had NEVER had lox before??? You are so deprived :) It is one of my favorite foods... possibly the food I miss most while pregnant.

BTW, they make digital cameras for kids. I got a steal on one on clearance at Walmart a while back for $15 (it is a Vtech Kidizoom) -- I think they retail around $50-$75. The pictures aren't as good as on our cameras, but the nice thing is that it has held up well to the abuse that Mia dishes out!
