I'm Just Not The Kind Of Mom...

...that makes her kids' Halloween costumes.
Though, I would like to be!
And this year I was even going to give it a try for Will's costume.
You see, I picked up this cute strawberry costume for Sophie from One Step Ahead on clearance right after Halloween last year. I think I got it for like $14. She's going to wear a black turtle neck and tights underneath.
And I've had a magazine tear-out from Family Fun (can't find the link for it) to make a super simple and cute "corn on the cob" costume using yellow egg crates on the belly, green felt for the husk and raffia (sp?) on the head. It was so cute and I loved the image in my head of our kids being a fruit and a vegetable. ;)
Well, Will and I were discussing Halloween costumes a couple weeks ago and asked if he was going to be a lion again this year. I told him no, but that I was going to make him a "cool" (key word) corn on the cob costume and Sophie was going to be a strawberry.
Well... (insert whiny tone here)... he said "Nooooo! I don't want to be a corn on the cob! I want to be a giraffe!"
Of course he does.
Well, what fun is Halloween for a kid if they can't pick their own costume?
And, truthfully, I wasn't looking forward to making a costume anyway. I'm totally an idiot in that department, though I wish that would change.
Well, last year's lion costume came from Old Navy for a very reasonable price - like $20, I think? And I always get free shipping with my Gap card. (Yes, that's right. I hold a pretty high status with the folks at Gap/Old Navy. Wink, wink.) Plus I almost always have a discount coupon/credit. So, I got online and was so pleased to find that they did in fact have a giraffe costume and it was only $17... before my credit was included.
SOLD!

The giraffe costume arrived today and Will is SO excited about it!
It fits perfect and he CANNOT WAIT till Halloween.
I have a feeling he's going to ask daily if it's time to trick or treat.
The costume is very cute and comfy looking... and plenty warm for our usually cool Halloween evenings.

Sophie thought it was pretty cool/funny too and, together, they had one of their usual "squealing fests". She'd tap him on the back and he'd turn around fast and they'd both squeal in delight. :)

I'm thinking of having a small Halloween costume party for our small group of cousins before trick or treating this year. Pretty sure Will is always going to associate Halloween with Cora now, after trick-or-treating with her last year. This year, he told me he thought Cora should be "a rhino". I passed that suggestion on to Molly (LOL) and she said Cora is actually requesting to be an astronaut! Haha! Where do these kids come up with these ideas? Probably Buzz Lightyear? (sp?)
Anyway, looking forward to Halloween!

No corn on the cob???? I thought your kids had fruits and veggies covered and then Mya and Stella were going to be a piece of steak and a glass of milk so we had most of the food groups covered. Now what will we do? LOL Actually I, of course, wanted them to be lady bugs and there are cute costumes from Carters but I haven't gotten them yet because I can never find two of their size so who knows.

This is so cute! Sophie's face explains it all. I'm sure she thought Will was hysterical! That will be us next year (I can't wait!)... Cohen's still too little to understand anything, but next year will be a blast! Have fun! Your family is so stinkin cute! I love your dining room by the way.
