A couple of blueberry books to go along with our picking recently...
White is for Blueberry by George Shannon and One Little Blueberry by Tammi Salzano
" White is for Blueberry...[turn page]... when the berry is still too young to pick." Just as "Black is for poppy... when we take the time to look inside." Will and Sophie though it was hilarious to say "Whaaat?" really high pitch and surprised after each color and object was named because of how ridiculous it sounds. But when you flip the page, it explains a different way to look at each object to make that color statement true. One Little Blueberry is a cute counting book of nature's littlest critters chasing after a blueberry for their lunch.
The Neighborhood Sing-Along by Nina Crews
Dogger by Shirley Hughes
Original copyright 1977... and you can tell. But I love it! A beloved lovey, Dogger, goes everywhere with his owner, Dave, until one day, Dogger gets lost. Dave is very sad and the whole family looks high and low for him. He's finally rediscovered for sale at a school fair (someone found him and tried to sell him). But before Dave could explain the mishap or gather enough money to buy Dogger back, a little girl buys him. Poor, poor Dave. But this is when big sister steps in and saves the day. A happy story of family support.
Bella and Stella Come Home by Anika Denise
(Stella is the elephant.) Bella and her family move to a new home and Bella and her stuffed elephant (who apparently grows to near life-size proportions when no adults are around) are having a hard time adjusting. A cute book about getting acquainted with a new environment.
We've been going to the beach a lot, so these were fitting to read this time of year.

Going to the Beach with Lily and Milo by Pauline Oud and Beach by Katie Dicker
Lily and Milo gather all the things they will need for their trip to the beach, but at the end of the story, Milo has set up his beach "scene" in... the house!
