Sniff, Sniff... I Smell Another House Project!

Look what arrived in the driveway on Saturday morning!
A bunch of lumber and drywall board...
We've been planning some reasonably inexpensive house projects and I'm so excited to get them underway! Craig has been organizing everything we will need into an Excel spreadsheet and price comparing three different home/hardware stores. (I love that man and his obsession with spreadsheets. He is a whiz on Excel and can neatly organize info and set up all sorts of handy calculations faster than I can center the spreadsheet title.)
Anyway, Craig and his dad made a trip out to Menard's on Saturday morning to purchase a large portion of supplies for one of the new projects. We'll call it: Operation Basement Makeover. Nothing super fancy... just going to partially finish parts of our basement to create some more living spaces. Our basement is pretty good size and has many faces: laundry room, workout area, used-to-be "office", excess dry food and supplies storage, and unfortunately, a major dumping zone for anything that doesn't have a permanent home upstairs.
Right now we're in the process of sorting through a bunch of CRAP and trying to clear out, minimize, sell, donate, and reorganize a ton of stuff. I was wildly successful in one arena so far: kids clothes! We've been doing a lot of clothes-trading and hand-me-downs with family, but we still had plastic tub upon tub filled with outgrown kid clothes. They were mostly all in pretty good condition and I'm usually not super sentimental about clothes, so... I went through everything and reorganized them by type and season. I called the Once Upon a Child stores in our area and asked what size/season/gender of clothes they were looking to purchase currently and only took one huge bin plus a couple small bags of boy clothes to start. Guess how much I made!? Almost $300!!!
I'm so excited! And I still have 2 more bins to sell when the season is appropriate.
So that's what we're up to again. We took a break after the summer stuff and now we're back at it. I love mini-facelifts for our little home. I love seeing new changes in tired-looking spaces. I love that Craig has a project to focus on. And I cannot wait to show you the progress as it comes along! Because, along with the basement, we have two more rooms that we're attacking with a makeover. :) Yippee!
