Flashback Friday

Welcome to a new segment of my blog that will (hopefully... if I remember) become a ritual every Friday. I saw this on some other blogs and thought it would be fun. Normally, I plan to do just one or two pictures and select them randomly. This week, however, I have a few extra to share (who me?) because we are about to pass down quite a lot of baby equipment to my sister-in-law and brother-in-law and Craig thought it would be funny to take a picture of Will using some of it one last time. :)

So here's a flash from the past of our Boppy play gym. This was in August '07, so Will was two months old.

And this one is from last week. He's pointing to Craig (the photographer) after telling him "you're the man, daddy!"
Will never used the bouncer seat we're actually passing to Kelly because we had borrowed this one from our friend Addison when Will was a baby.
But he did actually sit in Sophie's bouncer quite a bit. It was a toddler Lazy Boy for Will. This seat was also a hand-me-down from Craig's cousin. (P.S. - I swear he's not grabbing his crotch in this picture. He's pulling up the seat strap.)
Will (at almost seven months) in his new Jumparoo from Aunt Kelly and Uncle Steve.

And Will, last week, pretending to be a baby.
If you recall, he did this once before on his own back in December.
Kelly and Steve will also be using the cradle made by Great Grandpa King for Kelly and Craig when they were babies. We kept it in the dining room by the window when Will was a baby so he could look outside while we ate dinner.
Can you believe this is the only picture I have of Will in the swing when he was a baby? Actually, I have others but they're so close up you can't see the swing. He did use it a lot. Unfortunately, this isn't the best pic of my little boy. He was just six days old and the baby acne was flaring. This was also one of few pictures of Will taking a pacifier. He never really cared for them. Also, for obvious reasons, we didn't take a pic of Will in the swing now... LOL.
This is one of my faves. It cracks me up, because Will was always such a chill baby but the too-cool-for-school attitude wasn't really him and that's what he looks like here.
Ah, the Bumbo... We got way more use out of this thing with Will because he actually sat still! This picture is from his first Christmas morning. He always had those huge eyes and "what the heck?" expression. I loved it for introducing his first solids and letting him play with toys upright (with the attachable tray) before he could sit independently.
So I hope baby Cecilia can make lots of good memories for her parents in all of our baby gear. I'm surprisingly not all that sad to see it go. It's big and bulky and our house is small. Besides, I have all these great pictures and videos and memories to keep with me.
And before I close, (and because I had a fun trip down memory lane while searching for these old pics) I want to share a few more of Will's first couple months. I know I'm a little biased, but I think he was just about the prettiest newborn and baby I've ever seen.
This was on his birth day! He doesn't even look like a newborn here. He looks like those babies that TV shows and movies try to pass off as newborns but are really much older than that. I couldn't believe how awake and alert he was! Ha! But then he slept all day long for the next week or so.
One noticeable thing about Will was that he had such nice (dark!) coloring for a baby. He always looked like he had a tan - and not even anything to do with jaundice! This lasted for pretty much his whole first year. The pediatrician asked once if my husband had any Mediterranean or Puerto Rican blood lines because of how dark he was. Nope! Just German and French! I love this picture of Will and his Godfather, "Dub", when Will was just a couple days old.
Ha! I'm including all these pictures of everyone else holding my baby but me! This is another fave - we were on vacation in Grand Haven with Casey and Wes when Will was about seven-ish weeks old. It was so nice to have other people around to help out for our first vacation with a baby. Here, Casey was holding Will while I got out for a run. Such a beautiful baby... really, he almost holds me in a trance with his cuteness. Looks just like his daddy. ;)

Looking forward to another flashback next Friday!
