Leaves!

Will & I have been talking a lot about the fall season and the leaves changing and noticing all the pretty colors. We play I Spy in the car looking for different colored trees. LAST weekend we went to the park to collect various colored leaves, acorns, pine cones etc. and bring them home for further discussion and play.

As an aside, while we were at the park, we played at the playground too and Will was wearing Craig's old Ohio State hat. As usual, he was running all around but never working up the courage to go down the slides. Suddenly, a little boy a year or two older than him arrived wearing the exact same hat but with Michigan's logo on it. The little boy ran up, smiled at Will, and immediately went down the spiral slide. Not to be outdone by a Michigan fan, Will ran right up to the slide and went down too. :)

Okay, back to the leaves. At home, Will liked inspecting the various colored leaves he picked up.Photobucket

We traced them on paper.

And made "leaf crackers" using wonton wrappers brushed with canola oil and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Note to self: do not try this while simultaneously doing other things. You need to watch them carefully! Just a couple minutes in the oven is all it takes!

But enough of them turned out pretty good for us to have a nice snack.

And with a bunch of our favorite leaves, we glued them on green construction paper and Uncle Dub is going to laminate it for us at his school to create a leaf placemat! Thanks Dub!
