This is a bit of a shorter list than usual, but it's been awhile...
1) (November) Both kids are pretty technology-literate (as most kids are in their generation). Craig told Will he would put the movie Babe in the DVD player for him to just press play in the morning. Will said "Okay, daddy... set the volume at 22 'cause that's how loud I like to watch it".
2) (November) Sophie is happily playing with a puzzle, but Will apparently wants her company with what he's doing. He says "Sophie! I have a splendid idea! Do you want to play with monster trucks?" LOL
3) (November) Will ate a bite size Milky Way & Twix after lunch today and Craig asked him which one he liked better. Will was thoughtful for a moment and then said "I didn't like the Twix best because it was 'hilly'. And I like smooth things instead of bumpy ones." Good answer!
4) (November) Will and I often play the "I love you bigger than ___" game where we go back and forth saying what we love the other one bigger/more than. He's usually very creative. So at one point, I said "I love you bigger than Australia" (our things are often dinosaurs, states/countries, and outer space), to which he responded "I love you bigger than Mali".
I said "Molly-who?"
He replied "Mali the state!"
I said "do you mean the country?"
Will: "Ya!"
Me: "Where's Mali?"
Will: "I'll show you on my globe!"
He flipped on the light, grabbed his Leap Frog globe and pointed directly to the little country within the middle of Africa.
His next "I love you bigger than __"? "I love you bigger than Jared Sullinger." (The tallest player on the OSU basketball team. :)
And on another day, when I told him I loved him bigger than the Atlantic Ocean, he didn't hesitate to come right back with "I love you bigger than the Pacific Ocean".
5) (November) On the way to Brutus's appointment with the vet (Aunt Kelly), Brutus was shaking really badly in the car. Will kept reassuring him "It's okay, Brutus. It's just a check up!" :) Brutus always shakes in the car.
6) (November) Brutus had a rare poop accident on our kitchen floor overnight and Will calls to us from the bottom of the stairs to let us know. We told him not to touch it and we'd be right down to clean it up. Then we hear him say "Good grief...[<--that's been common lately] I shouldn't have to look at this". ;) And just a few minutes later, when I came downstairs, I heard him singing in his room while getting dressed: "Who let the dogs out? Who? Who? Who? Who?" Hahaha!!! ;-)
7) (January) Tucking Will in for bed, he says to me "Mommy, I just can't stop loving you". Aaaaand then my heart completely exploded. That boy is so darn sweet.
8) (January) I'm working at the dining room table after the kids' bedtime when Will comes out of his room. I ask him what he's doing out of bed and he says: "Here's what you need to know... I have to go #1".
9) (February) Driving home from the sitters, Will asks if he can honk the horn when we pull in the garage. "I really liked doing that when I was three. Now I'm kind of old."
"You're old?" I ask.
"No... I'm kind of new."
And then later: "I wish I had a horn."
Me: "Just a horn?"
Will: "And a steering wheel."
Me: "But not the whole car?"
Will: [shrugs]
Well, he won't be hard to please at 16! :)
10) (February) Sophie is still a bit of a mommy's girl and ALWAYS refers to our home as "mommy's house" (or Craig's and my bed and "mommy's bed"). Craig and Will frequently try to correct her. So as we were pulling up to our driveway on our way home from the sitter's, Sophie said "I see mommy's house!" And Will responded "It's all of our house. Mommy, daddy, Will, Sophie and Brutus. And together, we're a family! The Riedeman family house!" :)
11) (February) "Yay! We're gonna' Dougie!" (after I turned on the song). Both kids love to 'do the Dougie'. Haha!!!
12) "Boys have penises and girls have lady parts." Both kids were naked before bath time and we have always referred to Sophie's private parts as "lady parts". But it was just funny to hear him announce that.
13) At karate class, Will and some other kids were dressed and waiting for class to start. Will's friend Jagger and his family had just walked in and were getting shoes off. A different mom was correcting her son who was standing between her and the door, so she was looking in Jagger's general direction but talking to her own son. Will was looking at the lady strangely and suddenly said (in not the friendliest tone): "That's not your kid... that's Jagger". Haha! I, of course, corrected him and talked to him about respecting other adults. The other mom looked a little annoyed at first, but then laughed it off with a comment about "the things kids say". Will was just being protective of his buddy! :)
