Sophie's Winter Music Program

Sophie had her winter music program during the church service at her preschool this morning.  Both classes from the Precious Moments Preschool (the Tuesday/Thursday kids and the Monday/Wednesday/Friday kids) came together to sing a handful of patriotic songs complete with decorative props and a few, minimal dance moves that standing on risers would allow.  :)  The church congregation was joined by lots of family and friends of the students for this performance.
Sophie had been practicing for weeks leading up to this and her "singing" was extremely loud and forceful in practice.  So we expected to hear as much this morning, but were pleasantly surprised to hear that she sang along with less... err... yell-singing.

Stella & Mya singing the "Who's face is on the penny?" song.
"You're a grand old flag!"

"Yankee Doodle", I think?

After the performance, all the children of the congregation were invited up to join the students for a bell choir performance.
Cecilia even boldly came up to participate!  She'll be attending school in the Tuesday/Thursday class here next fall.

Mya's crabby face (?) cracks me up in this picture.
The pastor was speaking to all the children here.  Will sat on Nana's lap during this time.
A fun morning watching our girl perform!
Everyone congregated for coffee clatch after as well.

Sophie's First Haircut & A Cousin Playdate

Sophie had her very first haircut this morning!
Only in the last month or so has she seemed to need it because of increased tangles and ragged looking ends, so I'd been waiting as long as possible for this day to come.  Here's a before pic from the back.
We went into downtown G-town to the Shear Delight where I've been going for cuts with Rachel, per a recommendation from my sister.  She does a great job and I love that she's close and reasonably priced.  I actually used to babysit Rachel when she was little!  She's my brother Zach's age.
Rachel did a great job with Sophie, who was thrilled with all of the wild-print equipment and pink cape Rachel used.  :)

The staff were so good to Sophie.  Sophie noticed a rack of nail polish on one of the walls and commented on her favorite "polishes".  So they sent her home with a mini color and top coat as well as a sucker.  And for ME, they collected some of her first haircut clippings into foil, filled out a "child's first haircut" certificate for the baby book and told me the first hair cut is FREE!  So nice!!  We'll definitely be returning there for Sophie's future haircuts.
The "after" shot of the back.  So much healthier looking!
On our way home from the haircut, we picked up Mya & Stella for a morning playdate.  Craig had taken Will out for some of their own bonding time and it was just us girls at home.  The three little ladies all got mini manicures with Sophie's new, free polish.
They patiently waited for it to dry...
...and then it was time for some yoga, per Sophie's request.

"Rocking horse".  (They were grabbing their ankles and rocking on their bellies.)

Lots of dress up took place throughout the playdate and then Will came home in time for lunch with his cousins before I took Mya & Stella home for nap.

InstaFriday

Couple more painting pics from my phone.

Will's first wallet will be arriving in his Easter basket!  Now he has somewhere to keep his library card and hold his allowance money when he saves up for something.  :)  Stinkin' cute.  And it's just like mine that I've used for years, just a different fabric.
New favorite nude:  Essie Topless & Barefoot.  ;-)  Every girl needs a nude polish in her collection.
Nap time for Soph.  Quiet time for Will.  Reading time for mommy.  (Craig went out with Wes to see Django Unchained.)  It's a good day.  :)
Little lady woke up and brought herself a book and blanket to join me on the couch for a snuggle sesh. :)
A little late afternoon yoga.
And capping off Valentine's weekend with some good eats!
Mmm!  Breakfast in a blender.  Happy Monday!
A piece of buttered toast and my favorite smoothie for breakfast:  Weelicious tropical lassi.  Frozen mango and blueberry, yogurt, milk, lime zest, honey and almonds. Flipping delish!
Trying a new "southern" chili recipe from Food Network's The Neelys.  Grilled cheese to go with, of course.
Mrowwww!  My new Zoya Blaze is a vampy little red, ain't she?  ;)
A new moscato and some candles for my bubble bath tonight after this freezing cold day!
Kicking off the morning with my least favorite appointment:  the dentist.  Ugh.  Twice a year, I dread this day.  But I had a good report and still no cavities!
Since the end of 2012, I've been hard at work sticking to my goal of getting myself moving!  It wasn't really a New Year's Resolution.  Just something I've been wanting to learn to incorporate into my busy life.  I wanted to find something I enjoyed and DO IT.  Craig bought me this workout series for Christmas from an infomercial that sucked us both in.  Haha!  Don't laugh - it's actually really fun and I love it!  So I'm patting myself on the back for 8 weeks with this new morning routine of 6 days/wk.  I get up between 5:30 and 5:50 depending on which workout I'm doing that day.  They vary between 30-50 minutes each.  I've started off keeping a log of my workouts just so I can keep changing it up, but I'm getting the hang of the rotation and won't be writing it down any more. Can't wait for warmer weather to get outside and do some fun stuff on top of this!
Love this book!  I haven't finished it but I'm reading it in small chunks at work.  Ellen Satter is the guru of basic family nutrition and has been my professional hero since college.  I have a couple others of her works and everything she writes is brilliant.  Worth reading by anyone responsible for feeding children especially, but even for just feeding themselves.  It is a huge part of my counseling practice at work.
When I was pregnant with Will, I used to dream about the relationship that our son would have with his daddy... and it is exactly as I imagined it.  They are two peas in a pod.  Will is just head over heels for Craig and Craig for Will.  Such a sweet blessing to watch them together.
Yep.  Two peas.
Friday night.  My pooch and I snuggling in for a movie with Craig.  TGIF!
