A busy weekend

We had a busy weekend with graduation parties and a Memorial Day picnic. Actually, on Thursday, my sister-in-law Kelly and I drove 2.5 hours to Amish country with the kids in an attempt to get out and do something different. Well it turned out we had accidentally chosen a Catholic holy day (Ascension Thursday) for our visit and EVERYTHING was closed! The auction, the shops... all closed. What a major bummer to have dragged the kids on such a long drive only to turn around and go home.

Then Saturday and Sunday, we attended graduation parties and on Monday, we went to the annual Riedeman Memorial Day picnic. Needless to say, by Monday evening, we had some sleepy, cranky kids.

I took advantage of the beautiful backdrop by the lake at Sunday's party to have a mini photo-shoot with Will. He was throwing rocks into the water.

The Kids

The glider chair is my new favorite prop for pictures because Sophie can sit up. Will loves to ham it up and say "cheese" for the camera now. I think they look like little mini-me's of Craig & I. :)

Sophia is One Month Old!

Wednesday was Sophie's one month "birthday" and she looked cute as a bug in her little sunsuit on a gorgeous, 80+ degree day.


I took her to her one-month well check appointment with the pediatrician and she's a healthy girl and growing well. 10#10oz already! Wow - that's almost a pound bigger than Will was at this age!

She's smiling more and sleeping at night like a champ. She's even had three 8-hr stretches at night so far. But she's also a bit more high maintenance, with her needs being met RIGHT NOW! It's so interesting to notice the differences between the kids' personalities and behavior.

Will's First Haircut

Okay, so we finally broke down last weekend and decided it was time. The bangs were getting too close to the eyes and it was starting to look more messy than cute. The new 'do is not my favorite but it's growing on me and it will grow out again. At least I didn't cry like I did the first time my dog got a haircut. LOL

Will kept picking up hair clippings off his lap, holding them up for me to see and saying "broken" in a very sad, pathetic voice. It was so cute.

Picture Update

I guess if I'm going to keep up, I'm going to have to limit the verbage and keep it to mostly pictures, or I'll never find the time. :)

So here's an update!

Will taking Brutus for a walk a couple weeks ago. Brutus sits so patiently in the wagon.






Will loves the "flowers" in our yard... much to the chagrin of his father, who is beyond frustrated with those little, yellow buggers.

Our gassy girl loves to be on her belly! She does NOT like the swing or the bouncer. She prefers tummy time... which makes for a very strong little girl!


I LOVE my Moby! It's a lifesavor to have my hands free around the house with 2 kids.

Out for a walk one morning. We walk often - good exercise and quiet children!

Two Weeks Old!

Wow! Half a month has gone by fast! Our little Sophie is really growing. We went to her "one week" check up when she was 9 days old and she had regained her birth weight (babies lose some weight in those first few days) and then some... 9# exactly on April 29th. So we were given the go ahead to let her sleep as long as she wants at night and currently she does 4-5 hour stretches between feedings overnight. So I feed her about 9:30pm and then get up with her between 1:30 - 2:30 and again between 5:30 - 6:30. Not bad!! That's much better than Will did at this age.

Sophie has lots of quiet alert time during the day and we love to see her pretty, little eyes. She has such a strong neck too! She often holds her head up off your shoulder when she's burping and also smiles a lot after she eats.

Will still pouts about sharing my attention, but has become much more intrigued by "Baby Sophie" and talks to her or asks for her often. He's even briefly "held" her and has given her hugs and kisses.

Visit to the Riedeman farm and feeding cows with Aunt Kelly. Will goes on and on and on about the animals on the farm... and then as soon as he's near them, he's ready to leave and clinging to you for dear life. As soon as they walked up to the cows in this picture, Will said "bye bye cows!" :)
